MY THOUGHTS

“Betulkan Yang Biasa, Biasakan Yang Betul.”
Datin Paduka Dr. Hajjah Sharifah Mazlina

“Make it right the normal practice and to practice the corrected.”
Beh’s Version

Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, And Nobody

This is a little story about four people named: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.

Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.

Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

There are always things that need to be done but we always thought somebody will do it or have done it. Openly and voluntarily accepting assignment is rare but rejecting is abundant. As a result many things can’t be carried out due to rejection and ignorance.

“Let’s work together and do whatever things not being told or assigned and share the results with great satisfactions to create resultant force.”
Beh Hock Heng

"If you enter this world knowing you are loved and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with."
Micheal Jackson

‘Love’ is referring to care and concern. When these aspects of life are put to practise, any thing and issues can just be resolved amicably without much argument. Permissive attitude of a person with tolerances will create a bridge for people to come forward for communications. Being of good heart is always popular and respected but crucial to have set limitations to prevent from going overboard.

“The World is rapidly changing and human transformation is moving towards selfishness and disrespectfulness. Realignment of life principles is of paramount importance and can only be achieved through love and care.”
Beh Hock Heng

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) developed by the United States Department of Defense and managed by the United States Air Force 50th Space Wing. It is the only fully functional GNSS in the world, can be used freely by anyone, anywhere, and is often used by civilians for navigation purposes. It uses a constellation of between 24 and 32 medium Earth orbit satellites that transmit precise radiowave signals, which allow GPS receivers to determine their current location, the time, and their velocity. Its official name is NAVSTAR GPS. Although NAVSTAR is not an acronym,[1] a few backronyms have been created for it.[2]

Since it became fully operational on April 27, 1995, GPS has become a widely used aid to navigation worldwide, and a useful tool for map-making, land surveying, commerce, scientific uses, tracking and surveillance, and hobbies such as geocaching. Also, the precise time reference is used in many applications including the scientific study of earthquakes and as a required time synchronization method for cellular network protocols such as the IS-95 standard for CDMA.

In actual life, GPS can be described as a leader leading a team with full provision of attention and guidance. This leader is relentlessly guiding thorough his subordinates to ensure they achieve their assignments by showing good examples with tolerances.

But long term habit of dependency in achieving good result will not ascertained the competency of a subordinate at the end of the day. It’s like a person always depend too much on a GPS device to reach a destination by not exploring the surroundings and as a result, one day he or she will lose their direction if the GPS is not available at that time.

The exploration of surroundings is equivalent to hands-on tackling of an assignment by a person. Without experiencing anything is tantamount to hearing without listening. By then they will learn nothing which results in complete dependency.

“To be independent is always better than dependent because learning with no limitations will ultimately further strengthen the independency.”
Beh Hock Heng

“I did not need to pay toll when I was a Cabinet minister. I did not feel the pinch then. Now that I am no longer one and pay toll, I begin to feel the pinch. The rakyat will feel it even more.”
Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid
(Source : The Star dated 28 February 2009)

Always put ourselves in other people's shoe so that any issues brought up can be deliberated with an open mind and ultimately cohesive environment can be achieved. Let’s not make decisions based on feelings alone but rather with an approach of sensitivity. Understanding each other is of paramount importance in order to be understood. Respect for each other is even more vital in order to be respected.

“Shoe is meant for foot comfort and protection. Not everyone will achieve this unless it is properly measured. You will feel uneasy when wearing an ill-fitting shoe size and for sure discomfort at all times. With this you will understand the pain that a person has gone through.”

“It is difficult for a student to pick a good teacher, but it is more difficult for a teacher to pick a good student.”

Both extremely agreeable! Yes, an enthusiastic subordinate finds difficulty getting in-touch with full of enthusiasm superior. Good superior will find even difficult to have an enthusiastic subordinate. If both having the same chemistry, I think any obstacles that come-by can be managed without much problem. Just a matter of both working towards the same direction and goal.

“Reluctance in getting things done will leave an unenthusiastic impression and inconducive environment. Rather project enthusiastic manner and eventually things will be resolved amicably.”

Nothing is impossible in life...! Strong determination and believing in big dreams will allow one to eventually reach the culmination point. Only by dreaming big with clear vision will the whole life prospective be changed. He who does not dream even trivially will fall into complete stagnancy in life. It is of paramount importance to dream big where at least the ones you have never achieved was made a reality even though the ultimate one is yet to be reached.

“Believe in yourself when embarking for the impossible dream.”

“What people see of my success is only one percent but what they don’t see is the 99 percent which are my failures.”
Soichiro Honda

Seeing a person through appearance and making judgment is tantamount to holding a kettle body without prior checking (it may be hot!).

We always admire the success of a person but we never realize the failures he or she had confronted throughout the journey. Success without prior failure is equivalent to breathing air from the atmosphere where no effort is needed and learning is halted (based on a normal person). We need failures to make us more robust to face challenges ahead. Only the tough will survive when facing tougher situations and environments eventually success is the ultimate answer. You will not see 1% if you never faced 99%.

“Look at yourself to ascertain the percentage mix between Success and Failure then it is fair to judge your achievement,”
Beh Hock Heng

Fifty or One ringgit note to pick? When you are asking which one to pick up, i think naturally you will opt for the Fifty ringgit note. Immediately the person who asked you will respond: ‘You should pick up both the notes.’ Then everybody will laugh all the way. It is a trick!

In reality it is only natural that the Fifty ringgit note was picked because of its Distinct Value compared to the One ringgit note.

Intelligent people are distanced from ordinary ones when a selection process is to be performed. Value creation on us is pivotal in order to be outstanding. Only the best will be chosen and further enhancement of our value will be achieved with the right organization.

“To be noticed for intelligence is longer lasting than for appearance.”
Beh Hock Heng

It is ok that you are having big contrast of height so long as you have the strategy and tactic to counter and attack. Confront your opponent with confidence and fearlessness eventually the game is yours.

In reality of business confrontation, we always hear “Big Fish Eats Small Fish” scenario. Big Fish is referring to companies with sizeable stand and with very established background, whereas Small Fish usually refers to newly established small companies or small scale operations.

My opinion is that even if you are insignificant but if you have a strong team in-line with clear company direction and objective, I think eventually this company will have a better edge in certain areas against the opponent and ultimately persistency will make a significant confrontation.

“Know your competitor’s and your strengths and weaknesses and apply the strategies to counter both parties and the result will change too.”
Beh Hock Heng

“我今天是部长,明天可能是普通人,当你坐上高位时,你也准备下来,这就是人生。

“Today I am a Minister, tomorrow may be a normal person, when you are at top position, you are ready to come down, and this is life.”

Tun Hussein bin DatoOnn (Malaysia Third Prime Minister)

Top position is difficult to gain. To maintain at the top is even more difficult. There is no such thing as forever. Most importantly we are ready to accept the change which will eventually affect our status. Be humble in everything we are confronting and doing. One day you will realize why you are given good treatment even when you are no longer at the top.

“Treat everything with a sense of humour and it will be reciprocated with respect.”

Life is full of uncertainties. But we can choose and prevent in many ways. Just that sometimes we never appreciate our life and think that god is always with us. Any action that we embark on must always be in consideration of our surroundings and not burden anybody.

Motorcyclists’ Mentality has always been a talking subject in the walk of life. The reason being that their behaviors and attitudes have been poorly demonstrated most of the times. Constant breaking of the Traffic Rules is rampant. Lives lost caused by ignorance is all too common. But lives lost caused by others’ ignorance is a total outrage.

“Think and think before any action to be taken otherwise it will be too late!”
Beh Hock Heng

God has given us motion and speech capabilities. Is there anything that we can’t do? Why don't we make full use of these natural abilities given by god to do out the best instead of making nonsensical excuses. “I can’t do it Sir!”

“Look around your surroundings and look at yourself to ascertain whether you are lacking something; if not just do it!”
Beh Hock Heng

When the rear seat belt ruling was announced, it caused a mixed bag of reaction from the public. It is surprising (and alarming!) that some feels this is a hassle. Since now it is still the ‘introductory’ period (no enforcement yet), it is appropriate for me to share my comments.

1) Live Radio deliberated the enforcement and majority responded hassle even their vehicles had already been installed with the Rear Seat Belts. (Comment: You will not appreciate your health until you fall sick! Just a matter of how we handle the cumbersome or commonly said ‘hassle’. Just do it and get used to it!

2) Old cars to be fitted with such safety belts within a set reasonable time frame but as usual, last minute responses will be the common. (Comment: Money spent on Cigarettes with return of poor health is tantamount to money saved for Seat Belts with tragedy confrontation possibility.)

"Think wise before it is too late!”
Beh Hock Heng

Once again I am not sharing something interesting! Automobile is crucial for the modern world. You go nowhere without this form of transport unless you are fit to walk on your foot. Steep competitions in automotive industry has resuled in abundance of varieties and choices with ultimate goal of attraction but the basic fundamental of design is always not changed.

Four wheels for the purpose of footing. Steering-wheel with direction control function. Head lamp makes visible front condition. Seats for the comfort and proper sitting position. Seat-belt for safety precaution and others.

“Change is necessary for betterment but the basic fundamental must not be forgotten.”
Beh Hock Heng

It’s ok with just the only one Silver medal! Of course big contrast in medals tallying among the giants can be ascertained. Malaysia is one of the countries in the world which had been equipped with the best sporting facilities and indeed with good recognitions and indisputable. But in terms of achievements in the international sport events in fact we are seeing it with mixed feelings. Feeling of disappointment with ‘utilization of the best’ judgment!

In life we always hear people said, ‘I can’t do it if you don’t upgrade the….!’ But when the request was fulfilled, the situation still remains unchanged. In contrast, ‘Never mind! I will try my very best to do it if it is not available.’ Good result was produced even without the support!

“Excuses will surface your weaknesses; real talent will lead to good personality discovery.”
Beh Hock Heng

Toilet paper! Everybody needs it for settlement! New roll will be replaced when last piece had been removed! A fresh roll with perfect appearance will always look nice but to remove the first piece for the first time…is difficult! It will be easier and smoother after a few times of repeating this action, until it becomes totally an act of ease towards the end.

In life, whatever attempts we are embarking for usually tend to face obstacles and challenges in the beginning stage. If we have the courage with persistent approach to face the barriers eventually things will be moving towards the direction of success.

“Challenges are the key to strengthen our thoughts and abilities.”
Beh Hock Heng

Big contrast! One with pricey, comfortable and branded and the other one is in fact something we have been treating as recycle plastic isn’t? We always have the feeling of dissatisfaction for many things even though we are having the best and until to the extent of extravagance. Our habits of wastage have never changed even when we know that there are people who needed what we are wasting.

"Be simple and moderate in everything that we have and appreciate what we have been enjoying!"
Beh Hock Heng
Astro Remote Controller, what's so great about it? Yes, just a remote controller, nothing to talk about! Anyway, since the photo had already been inserted so let us just do some observation. Obviously the number 1 button had faded! Why only this number 1 button and not others? I think perhaps you would draw an analysis like me - common number! We need number 1 to act as part of the numbers combination for connecting to respective popular Astro channels like ‘411, 412, 413, 701, 103, 311 and others. Due to frequent usage, this important number had eventually faded.

In the business world we have been observing the mass market products with eventual ‘Red Sea’ interpretation. The products, being so crucial and important, eventually resulted in product exploration potential for many businessmen. Price war could not be avoided and steep competition with no ending situation emerged. As a result the product will be described as a necessity but insignificant like number 1 of the Astro remote controller where everybody can just recognize it even though the number had faded and to replace it with a new one is not necessary.

"Actually I'm not old; it's just that I was born earlier."
Ghaffar Baba, Tun
The former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia

Situation makes judgment? Depends on how you accept people’s perception. Sometimes we make our own conclusion whereby your surroundings may not agree with it. It is imperative for us to love ourselves and do our best with no influence from anybody!

"Actually I'm not bald; it's just that I have lesser hair than you."
Beh Hock Heng

Tallest buildings in the world! Sorry, I am not sharing this fact! Attainment with extraordinary approach through structural means will not remain forever. Today you are the tallest and tomorrow it'll be my turn to build even taller building than yours.

To be outstanding one must think of the long term achievements with difficult manner to replace situation. It can be done literally or through business conglomeration. It is more significant with good recognition than just merely structural approach where it is just temporary!

“Think hard to be outstanding with exceptional thought!”
Beh Hock Heng

"Don't call it a mistake, call it an education." Thomas Alva Edison (1847~1931)

Mistake done! Worry of getting a scolding? Worry of bearing the responsibility? Then just stop doing anything and everything. Mistake comes with a heavy price. Heavy price will be tantamount to loss of individual’s competency and capability. Yes, I totally agree! But you will not be paying a heavy price if no mistake is made where the price you have paid will eventually be cheaper than if you had never made a mistake! Good education exposed must be paid with high price! Mistake made is considered knowledge gained! No mistake made will resultant in stagnancy!

“Mistake is a road to prosperity if no reoccurrence of the same mistake is made.”
Beh Hock Heng

Business card or name card! A card carries clear identity of a person’s particulars. Business cards come with various patterns in terms of size, font, design and appealing. All with one simple purpose, that is for self-introduction. Introduction with clear indication will make thing simple and straight forward. Fancy approach will make complication and guessingly which will eventually tarnish the purpose.

“Return to basic with simplicity will make life un-complicated.”
Beh Hock Heng

Malaysia! A country has a good presence on the world map. Years of independence with obvious development appearances. Good developments in respect of Politic, Economic, Fairly Good Governance and Multiracial Tolerances are achieved. Mixtures of new and old prominent building structures symbolize country’s prosperity and harmony.

This year, when I started to clean up my house especially to remove the spider web, I noticed that the spider wed built-up was more than last year and I needed longer time to remove it. Then I realized that last year I took almost 4 months once to clean it up but this year I only did it once a year. Can I blame the Spider? I think if I have the chance to talk to the spider: “Why you messed up my house ceiling with your spider web?” It will answer:” Why don’t you clean up more often?”

“Lackadaisical attitude will lead to further cumbersome of life.”

Helmet! What is this for? In dictionary explained ‘Protection head-covering worn by motorbike riders.’ This is a product for our head protection and it is paramount important for a motorbike rider. But why this has been ignored even there is a law being imposed for compulsory wearing of this helmet. Motorbike riders must think of their love one before they want to decide the helmet wearing for their motorbike riding on the road because it will be too late if an accident happened.

"When we intend to do something, please think of the consequences; by force is no meaning when consequences are to be measured."

King of Fruits, Durian! Sharp structure lead to pain when is touching. Unpleasant smell to certain people when is confronting. But the moment it is "operated" after spending gigantic effort and passion, the inner discovery will lead to commotion by human being. It will be continuing until exhausted.

There is no short cut for success. Time and effort spent can’t be avoided. The fruition only will be realized when a person has the persistent in confronting the challenges.

RM1m reward for a Malaysian who wins an Olympic Beijing 2008 gold medal is justified? There is no right or wrong with this embarkation by our government. If you think of the quote by John F. Kennedy, this is not right:

”Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.”

In the other hand if you think of the quote by Beh Hock Heng, this is right but anyway RM1m is too much:

“Sacrifices with rewards will further sacrifice for bigger rewards.”

It is immaterial whether he or she born good looking or ugly, so long job assignments given can be accomplished.

An autobiography is written with substance. Its contents reflect the writer’s culmination. The books are sold mostly for charity purpose. The move will basically further enhance the writer’s prominence. An autobiography is significant for readers’ mind building and character moulding. Positive thoughts are implanted and to remove it will be difficult. It is because the readers themselves will be writers when time matures.

A pot of tea full of significant achievements. When friends gathered together, past memories were shared with delightfully. Current issues were brought out and deliberated with knowledge enhancement. When business partners gathered together, business directions were discussed and deliberated with relationship intensification. When family members gathered together, family value and communication will be further preserved and enhanced.

Life is tough! We shall not sit and do nothing just because the environment has changed. We have to adapt to the changed environment with positive approach. Life is tough! God gave us physical strength and vocal capabilities. Why we don't make full use of these?

Enough Is Enough! The whole country is facing a crisis. The effect of the petrol hike is tremendous and extreme. Living cost is ascending. Life is getting tougher. Money is getting smaller. Business is getting weaker. Moral is getting a failure. Productivity is getting descending. But the political arena is getting more livelier. Political subjects are trivial but nonsensical approaches are applied. The world is watching us with curiosity and sympathy. Sympathizing with a country that is abundant with richness of natural resources but hamper by poor management. Why should we be punished? Everybody should start thinking of the best ways to manage the country with one single mind. Personal interests should be eliminated and common interests should be preserved. A Home is not a house; and a house is not a home. A Country is not for living; land is for living. It is imperative to upkeep our land with good projection of country image, ultimately life is in peace and secured.

Everybody should work not in a self-centered manner but rather think of the total surroundings with cohesion approach.

I am always asking myself am i doing the best, as for anything that comes along the best of me can be measured.

Life is tough but when i think of my family especially my lovely children, things will change naturally.

Before we can come to articulation we must think of the consequences. Whatever we want to do where deliberation and discussion are crucial and important in order to project sense of belonging.

As a leader it is important to teach and guide their subordinates in order to make them understand that one day they have to do the same to others.

I always have the disappointments when things not turned up to be at right tracks after much instructions being given. We have to show our seriousness in doing things not with lackadaisical attitude.
